Here at the Blevins Angus Ranch, we really focus on our cow/calf operation. We have very specific key objectives in mind when producing our registered Black Angus stock. The goal has been to produce cattle who have natural mothering ability, good milking, thickness, and structural soundness. It is always important that every cow puts back key elements into the herd and offers great value back to the operation overall.

The ranch looks to produce mild tempered cows with the natural ability to become mothers. We specifically look for cows to be smooth shouldered, thick hipped, and structurally sound. A structurally sound cow provides the ranch with calves year after year.

The Blevins have bred registered Black Angus cows appealing to the eye for 40 years by working to eliminate structural problems within the herd. We realize that cows with bad feet have problems maintaining weight, raising heavy calves, and don’t offer longevity in the herd. We expect cows to have very maternal traits and quality milking ability. It is important that our cows provide us with calves ready to hit the ground running and wean off with optimal weight.

The B.A.R works to maintain quality growth, mature carcass, and appearance to coincide with EPD’s in our registered herd for every commercial cattleman’s benefit.

... We try to source things locally when we can, which is why we were excited to try some ground beef from Blevins Angus Ranch…definitely exceeded our expectations as far as flavor… we made burgers on the griddle recently—- just a little salt and pepper and the flavor of that beef really came through. Rich, umami…somehow clean-tasting? SO GOOD. We all agreed they were some of the best homemade burgers we’ve had...can’t wait to get more!
